Feeding A Healthy Diet is Bricks and Mortar of Health

Feeding your cat a healthy diet is the bricks and mortar of health. This applies to cats as well as humans. Putting a little thought into what you feed your cat can pay big dividends with their improved health over their lifetime.

‘My cat is doing fine on his current food’ – this is a phrase we hear quite often at FourFriends. Every cat is ‘fine’ until they show outward signs of allergies, intolerances and poor nutrition. FourFriends Super Premium Cat Food with Aloe Vera promotes preventative nutrition. There is a big difference to a cat ‘surviving’ and ‘thriving’.

Cats are obligate (strict) carnivores and need animal based protein. FourFriends high meat content cat food has been developed and designed for these unique nutritional needs. Our food is made of pure chicken, salmon or duck meat and therefore incredibly tasty. Up to 92% of the total amount of protein comes from animal origin. We use only the muscular parts of the animal which is gently dried to meat meal. It is then added to the recipe for the highest meat content possible.

The crucial fact to remember is the importance of where the protein originates and that high quality meat protein is far superior to cereal & grain protein. Cats have no dietary need for carbohydrates and a diet that is high in carbohydrates can be detrimental to their health.

Cats need taurine in their diet to prevent blindness and certain kinds of heart disease as they cannot produce taurine in their own bodies. A diet which relies heavily on grains as a source of protein will lead to a taurine deficiency so it is vitally important that you cat has a high meat protein food. FourFriends fulfils this need and we also add extra taurine into our recipes.

Our top tip - when feeding your cat always use large water and food bowls so that the whiskers are not hitting the sides of the bowl.
